Catalyst Driver for HD 4000, HD 3000 and HD 2000 Series on Windows 8

This was good, it had looked so bad if these cards didn't get a Catalyst driver for Windows 8

Is it possible for DX10/10.1 hw to support WDDM 1.2 or is it DX11 only?
 
Well that's surprising. AMD doesn't usually do legacy owners much in the way of favors. They probably just rebuilt the INFs with entries for Win6.2, but that's enough to do the job.🙂

DX11 only. Certain features WDDM 1.2 requires simply aren't available in R700/GT200 and earlier hardware.
