I got a second monitor for Christmas and when ever I plug it in Cataylst eventually crashes. i first thought that it was dude to and old driver version so I downloaded 9.12, this did not help. I'm running both screens at native resolution and refresh rate. The card is a Sapphire 4850. The monitors are different resolutions. The main is running direct DVI the new one is running to VGA. I am running Vista 64.

I had this issue about a year ago, with 2x 3850's in crossfire. Dual monitors caused blue-screens and updating drivers didn't fix it. It is, however, related to the drivers. At some point, it went away after a reformat.

I recently reformatted a friend's PC, who has an x1800, and he gets bluescreens when running dual monitors as well since the format. Haven't figured out how to get rid of it yet.

EDIT: It was supposed to have been fixed in an old catalyst release, but seemingly now exists in the 9.11 legacy drivers, and apparently in whatever drivers you installed as well.
