Catalyst Control Center

I updated my drivers to the 4.12 betas which said they require the catalyst control center to be installed, so I installed it. Now every boot up I get an error message from tiny personal firewall saying "service_control_interrupt", which isn't so horrible as it goes away after 1 click. I get the error after clicking done in CCC also. The thing that is frustrating me is that all .wmv and .asf files have the gamma waaaaay out of wack now, they look like they are shot in infra-red. The overlay controls in the CCC are locked for some reason, i cant move any of the sliders. The gamma slider is stuck almost all the way to the left. Anyone running a 9800pro(or any ati for that matter)having a similar problem or know of a solution. I'll probably just roll back to an older version after I beat HL2, hopefully by the time I'm ready for Counter Strike the release drivers will have this ironed out.

Amen. There aren't any useful tools in this. It is just eye candy for the stupid user to think ATI is cool.

For someone who's never used CCC, what settings are available in it that aren't in the standard control panel tab?

Indeeed.

Even if you wanted to configure features not available from ye olde classic CP, it could be done manually from the registry (could export various reg files to merge for quick changes) or with a third-party proggy like ATI Tray Tools which does include AI. For the CCC gamma slider problem, enable the secondary display to allow Overlay adjustment. The screwy default does not occur with the CP. Other video playback problems might be solved by disabling WMV acceleration.

Ah, neat tool, that. (ATI Tray Tools). Don't need to install CCC to mess with the AI settings then. :D

I do have .net 1.1 installed. If I don't have to have CCC installed then I will just get rid of it-- Thanks guys.
