Hello all. I'm a long-time reader of AT, but new to the forums.

I'm having some trouble with Catalyst Control Center and a new 6870. I recently got this card as a replacement when my 5850 died, and unfortunately, I'm not able to set up my old Eyefinity array, because Catalyst Control Center will not run.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers, Done a System Restore, and used several utilities to clean up any leftover files, such as CCleaner and Driver Sweeper. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled .Net Framework 4.0.

I'm about at the end of my rope. AMD forums told me to reinstall Windows, HardOCP hasn't said anything, so I'm asking you guys. I will do a full reinstall of Windows if required, but I'd love to avoid it if possible. Thanks in advance for any advice or help that I can get.

I'm not really sure what problem you're having, but just to be sure, you are installing the full Catalyst Suite and not just the driver by itself right?

Can you verify in task manager that MOM.exe and CCC.exe are running on your system? I'm just trying to figure out if the problem is with the installation or if the programs are installing, but not functioning properly.

MOM.exe and CCC.exe are both running in Task Manager.

Here's the error I get when clicking About:

Which Catalyst version are you trying to install? Have you tried different versions?

I think that you should Uninstall .Net from the system first, remove any rogue registry keys that are left over from the installation. Unistall your catalyst suite and let windows boot with the default drivers. Then install the latest version of .Net, then the latest Catalyst drivers for your Graphics card(get the drivers from your manufacturers sit, for eg if manufacturer is Msi, get the latest driver from their site). Be sure to get the correct drivers as per the version of OS you are running. Install the Catalyst suite.. reboot. I think you should be good to go..

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling .Net and Catalyst Drivers. I will try again, rebooting between each step, and using CCleaner to clean up any leftover bits and pieces after each uninstall.

Another thing you could try is the hidden device trick....Old card may be hidden still and conflicting.

Open command prompt but by right click run as admin then paste the following: 1 by 1

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

start devmgmt.msc

Tic the Show Hidden Devices option then look under the display adapters. If you see your old card greyed out right click and uninstall it.

Has cleard up issues with CCC a couple of times for me.
