Catalyst Control Center is a slow piece of CRAP!

I just put a X1800 XT in my kids computer the other day. I haven't used ATI since I sold my X800 XTPE a while back.

Anyway, ATI doesn't put out the old ATI control panel so I was forced to use CCC. It takes like forever just to get the damn thing to open up. Does anyone know how much of a resouce hog CCC is?

Use ATI tray tools . . . or the old CP with the new Cats.

IF you DO use the CCC, definitely move to .NET 2.0 . . . it loads faster.

So I can use the new driver with the old CP?

Also, If I'm using .NET 2.0 do I need .NET 1.1 I've got both isntalled right now.

Omega useds 6.1 drivers with ati tray tools

NGo 1.5.13(ati 5.13 but with ati tray tools and ati control panel since there are some things CP can do that ATiTray Tools cant do, that and NGO is my preferred choice since it runs just as fast but is slightly more stavble)

i did . . . CCC hasn't been updated in quite awhile . . . i am looking forward to the new one.

looking in Add and Remove Proggies, i see Net 1.1, the hotfix and Net 2.0 [beta]

BUT, i would think ATI tray tools and the latest driver are sufficient and stable

Personally, I can't see why ATI are making CCC the monopoly. They can't possibly be making more money from it than CP (the drivers are free, for god's sake). In fact, I suspect CCC is more expensive to implement than CP, what with all the fancy videos and shiny menus.

All ATI are doing is putting people off from using their software and, by extension, their products. Personally, I know of no-one who outright PREFERS CCC to CP (though I expect to be inundated with replies from members who do!). After all, CCC offers NOTHING lacking in CP.

I think CCC should be an optional extra and not forced upon the rest of us. When I change over to PCI-E backplane I, for one, will probably switch to Nvidia.

In my book it's "VB with all the .net overhead crap." I wish it were straight up "C++", then we wouldnt be complaining about it right now...

What if Microsoft sucked their peepee and gave them $100 per download (which they could probably easily afford)? They would use .NET then.
