It was PowerPlay, and only a rumor at that. They did not fix PowerPlay, however, they did fix a number of bugs, issues, and increase performance across the board. Under Linux, they introduced Crossfire support as well as bug fixes.

I reported a few bugs with 8.6 and they've already fixed most of them with 8.8.

CCC kept crashing on me with the 8.8 Catalyst drivers under both XP and Vista. I reverted back to 8.7s and it's been solid as ever. Don't know if it's just my dumb luck or if this release was really that shaky.

8.8 crashes sometimes for me too as soon as I get into windows. Only does it after I boot up. I just load it up again and all is fine.

If you got problems with CCC in 8.8 just use the CCC from 8.7 (or whatever version runs for you) :) You can uninstall only CCC and install CCC only too.

I uninstalled an 8800GT using Revouninstaller, installed the 8.8 Cats and have zero issues with the CCC or games for that matter. Maybe you guys need to clean out your old drivers completely?

I always run the uninstaller and then reinstall the next version fresh.

Good suggestion by Qbah though about just updating the drivers and not CCC. I'm just too used to downloading and installing the full package I suppose. :)
