The end of ATI's AGP problems?

From the release notes:
Resolved Issues for the Windows XP Operating System
After installing the graphics driver an error message is no longer displayed when attempting to launch DirectX based games when using an ATI AGP product. Further details can be found in topic number 737-31625

The Catalyst? Control Center menu option may fail to function when changing the skin from system skin to any other available skin. Further details can be found in topic number 737-30570

I just experienced that issue, it's very annoying.

Not on my XP machine. Maybe it was with Vista. It just went away tonight after the 8.3 install.

Digital Panel GPU image scaling
This release of Catalyst? introduces a new setting that allows users to enable GPU accelerated scaling for Wide aspect LCD displays. The new setting Maintain aspect ratio improves the display resolution image quality when scaling is enable by maintaining the wide panel aspect ratio (stops the image from looking distorted)

Yeah, can anyone confirm that this works well? The nVidia solution looks like ass (8800GT owner).

Works like a treat! :) Has 3 options:

- stretch to the whole area (ie. 800x600 looks bad on a 1680x1050 panel)
- stretch but keep aspect ratio (bars on two sides if res lower than native)
- keep centered (black bars all around the image, it's in the middle of the screen)

Tried it in Fallout 2 on my Samsung 226BW (1680x1050), works like a charm! Finally!

EDIT: Seems the third option ain't working, at least not in Fallout 2 (the screen gets stretched on the whole panel) and I don't have anything else to test it on. No biggie as I prefer the second one anyway :)

The only working resolution that i can get on my 50 inch sony is 1776 x 1000. The tv is native 1920 x 1080, my onboard could do it properly, but when i slapped in a x800, the signal was severely underscanned. The ccc software cannot correct this. Anyone else deal with this?

I have a Dell 2001FP that I use for gaming (4:3). Will this new feature (the GPU image scaling) automatically "upscale" my games that are locked into 640X480 to the 1600x1200 resolution that my monitor / desktop is set at (my monitors native resolution)?

What looks bad about it? It's working fairly well here (8800GT). I just knew DAAMiT would put this in its drivers soon after I switched camps. After two years of feedback pestering, they must've missed me.

Where is the option? Under Digital Panel Attributes, I only have "Scale Image to Full Panel Size" and "Use Centered Timings."

look under "Digital Panel - Attributes"

i have those 2 and "maintain aspect ratio"

using "centered timings" should work
[i think]

mine doesn't :p
- no black bars

oops ... HOLD the Phone .. i got it to work ... but for not for all resolutions .. 6x4 and 10x7 do the stretchies - even with centered timings
.. but i see progress ... other settings are nice :)

now i will see how it likes my 2nd display

:D
