New Features
Catalyst 8.1 introduces MultiView? support. This feature provides for hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering across multiple graphics adapters. MultiView? will provide hardware accelerated 3D rendering in a system containing multiple graphics cards on an extended desktop arrangement. This feature will allow for the rendering performance and additional frame buffer resources to be evenly shared with the second and third graphics adapters. This allows for a 3D application to have the same performance running on a secondary or third display device as if it were running on the primary display device. This feature will be supported under Windows XP (32 and 64 bit versions), Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit versions), and the Linux operating system. Product support includes:

· ATI Radeon? HD 3870 series
· ATI Radeon? X1950 series
· ATI Radeon? HD 3850 series
· ATI Radeon? X1800 series
· ATI Radeon? HD 2900 series
· ATI Radeon? X1650 series
· ATI Radeon? HD 2600 series
· ATI Radeon? X1600 series
· ATI Radeon? HD 2400 series
· ATI Radeon? X1550 series
· ATI Radeon? HD 2350 series
· ATI Radeon? X1300 series

Looks like they fixed the oblivion bug I was having. I had no idea that the GPU was causing it. (Minimizing then restoring sometimes caused a fatal error.)

I have an agp card so I need to use the 8.1 hotfix. Question- do I install the 8.1 cats and then the hotfix or just the hotfix itself?

I dont see 3870x2 on there but my understanding is that the 8.1 Cat is the driver for the new dual GPU card. Maybe ATi might hit a release date after all.

You must uninstall CCC and the GPU drivers first.

If you do not have any other ATI devices, then just go to Windows Add/Remove Software and uninstall the ATI Catalyst. It will give you an option to Express Uninstall All ATI Software, which is what you want.

After rebooting, you can install the new stuff as usual.

I thought that, traditionally, you had to download a separate, ~500kb uninstaller from ATI, to uninstall the Catalyst Drivers. May be wrong though.

Installed fine on Vista 64, Crysis DX10 gained a lot, says around 25-30fps avg for me (1920x1200), still not quite there but its progressively getting better each driver  DX9 was around 30-40fps walking around with 7.12 yet to try 8.1.

EDIT: DX9 simply beautiful, 44fps+ walking around first level very nice :) (1920x1200). Good driver indeed for Crossfire users- Stalker is alot smoother as is UT3.

To start the uninstaller go C:/ATI/setup.exe let that load and then you should be faced with an 'install' 'uninstall' option, I always uninstall from there, reboot , load up Guru3d Driversweeper, run that, reboot then install fresh and your good to go (this is for Vista not sure about XP).

They probably have it like I do: taskbar at the top of the screen instead of bottom, which covers the dot. :D

I thought it was just a feature of Catalyst Install Manager:

Step 1
Step 2

Does the program give you this option on 32-bit Vista (or XP)?

I just installed the Hotfix on my Xfire rig in sig and I can confirm that I got better frame rates with the Hotfix over the already good 8.1- I haven't run any benches but running around the level I seem to maintain 30fps+ (1920x1200 DX10) will run the GPU bench later but this is good stuff. For those wondering how to install the hotfix, this is how I did it.: Uninstall previous ATI display drivers by going C:/ATI find the setup.exe, run that until you are faced with 'install' or 'uninstall' click uninstall then reboot and once loaded back into windows run Guru3d Driver sweeper and a registry cleaner (I used CCleaner, easy and simple) then reboot and when loaded back this time, Install the Hotfix drivers (note these are display drivers ONLY so theres no CCC / Northbridge driver) once they are installed, reboot and install the CCC (you should download this separately from ATI- they have a link to ONLY the 8.1 CCC) once this is installed, reboot and your good to go- I have never had any problems ever installing using these steps, hope it clears a few things up for people.

So.. do these cover the x1400 mobile..? I saw the list and saw x1300, but not my stupid x1400.

I would like to put these on my Dell... but Dell is retarded about drivers.

? i must of done something wrong.
i followed Sylvanas' instructions and i can't find the Catalyst Control Center anywhere.

also with these drivers i actually lost fps.
in the Counter Srike: Source video stress test i used to get 62+ fps with everything on high with the 7.12 drivers & ccc and now i'm getting 58+ fps with the 8.1 drivers & ccc.

i'll try everything again and see what happens.
