Catalyst 7.3 Drivers are Up...

thanks a lot!
I was expecting these any day now.

Edit:

Bah these are almost no better than 7.2 for me 🙁

Crossfire AA settings keep getting reset (as is mentioned in the XP readme) and the CCC is all glitchy (AA and AF sliders are off and sometimes dont display correct info).

Oh well.

I've had hard time to set 7.3 with 1920x1080 res 60hz with x1950pro in WinXP
I just run install of 7.3 drivers only on top of 7.2
and after restart I got "shrinked" 1920x1080 - not 1:1 mapping - more like 18xx x 1000 in center of monitor, where monitor run in 1920x1080 mode
when I tried 30 hz - I got 1:1, but flickering (interlacing)
then in safe mode I removed ati drivers and run driver cleaner on top of it
then restarted and run twice as the first time ATI 7.3 installer asked for directX8 and failed

So, just by miracle I got back 1920x1080 with 7.3 ...

as newer driver I use as more issues I see :-(

I did an upgrade install over the 7.2s and so far everything is looking fine. I might just be random chance, but Oblivion seems to be more tolerant of alt+Tabbing. It would crash about 2/3rds of the time with the 7.1 and 7.2 drivers if I did that. It has yet to do so with 7.3 so far.

Also, with the previous releases, right clicking on the desktop and attempting to launch CCC wasn't ever working for me, I had to launch it from the tray icon or shortcuts. It is working from the right click menu now with 7.3.

well ... zero difference with STALKER ... that i can *see*

i guess that is a good thing as it already ran really well
😉

i only upgraded the display driver ... i have the CCC that came with 7.1

and ... i just noticed ... my CCC supports both "scale image to full panel size" and "use centered timings" ... isn't that for running non-native panel resolutions?

i thought it didn't work with ATi
😕

I ran into a weird problem with these. My laptop (Mobility Radeon 9700) does not seem to want to apply this update. When I run the installer, tell it to update (or install), it claims that my drivers are already up to date. I haven't done any software update of this kind since 7.2, but the version number that is showing would seem to imply that I was already running the 7.3 driver before I even downloaded the package.

Probably going to just have to uninstall and then reinstall.

These fixed my inability to play Q4 [in Vista 32] w/ my secondary display enabled! Yay 🙂

So I redownloaded the mobility radeon package from ATI/AMD's site...and the INF has no profiles for... Mobility Radeons. Maybe their files are messed up right now. Trying the multilingual one.

Just did some searching, I don't believe Catalyst 7.3 actually has any updates for Mobility GPUs. Seen reports of 9x00 series cards stating they are already up to date as well as x1xxx Mobility GPUs. Guess I am going to install 7.2 again...

I installed them last night under XP, and haven't experienced any problems. I've only had a chance to run a few apps though.

for some reason, the ati 7.3 drivers is causing my system to crash on bootup. I did a full reinstall of windows vista ultimate 32bit, loaded the ati 7.3 drivers, after a few full restarts, it would get to the login screen, then bam bsod. Not to sure what causing the problem. Went back to the ati 7.2 drivers, my system run fine now, no crashes or anything.

Goddamnit, same issue here. :frown:

I didn't restart after the initial install, so i didn't realize the issue.

But yup, BSOD upon restart 🙁

Gonna have to go back to older ones i gues.

They are completely hosed.

Why? I'm running Vista Ultimate and I'm having no problems with the 7.3's on my X1950 Pro AGP....they're not the best performing drivers compared to the XP version's (10-15% slower in most games and benchmarks...that work),but they work fine for me....I'm currently in the process of testing all my games with them and Vista, and so far so good..

2. Type SERVICES.MSC and hit Enter.
3. Locate the service called ATI External Event Utility
4. Right-click it and select Properties
5. Under Startup type, pull the menu down and select Disabled.

7. Reboot. The computer should start up normally.

This process disables Catalyst Control Center's ability to auto-detect a hot-swapped display. In other words, if you plug in a monitor while the computer is on, the Catalyst software won't detect it. Makedon notes that if this workaround doesn't do the trick, you can simply use the Catalyst 7.2 drivers until AMD posts a fix
