Catalyst 5.6 dual monitor issues

Anyone else seen any issues with the new Catalyst 5.6 drivers and the X800 Pro?

I installed them curious to see if the new WMV HD Video acceleration really did anything. It didn't help much for me.

Odd thing. though. is that if I tried to play the WMV HD movie with Media Player on the secondary monitor, it launched a seperate "DirectShow" window outside of WMP and played at around 10 FPS. Then, If I closed WMP and relaunched it with WMP on the primary monitor, it worked fine and played inside WMP (abeit at the same CPU usage as before Catalyst 5.6).

Also, on the secondary monitor, XP kept on hanging up whenever it tried to do "fade-effects" (like when you get a new email notification in Outlook, or the flyout menus in IE).

Quite odd...I already uninstalled them. Seems like ATI still needs to look into this some more...

Anyone else with a dual monitor setup seen any of this?

well..basically three problematic things:

a new driver release
very buggy DXVA hardware acceleration
secondary monitor display (might not work because of overlay, needs theater mode)

not good news. 🙁 report it to ATI though.

Thanks.
Overlay shouldn't be the issue because you have to turn off overlay and enable "high quality mode" to get it to work right (in the WMP advanced settings).
Strange though that I also had issues with the fade-effects and such. Those "shouldn't" be linked to video playback...
Oh well.
