Catalyst 4.9 on laptop

Does anyone know if the catalyst 4.9 drivers will run on a laptop after they are modded. I have a 9600 mobility.

Another question is will there ever be a 2gig stick of ram

You need the Omega drivers, I believe, which will run on the Mobility RADEON chipsets. They *should* work, but there are no guarantees. Alternatively, you can wait until your laptop manufacturer releases newer drivers.

As for your other question, I'm not sure you can do that with the current DDR/DDR2 standards; there may not be enough address pins. You'd also have a tough time fitting all the chips onto one DIMM! Plus, 32-bit OSes can't address more than 4GB anyway without some serious hacks (like Windows' PAE).

I have modded (non omega) Catalyst 4.9 drivers running on my laptop just fine.

As for the 2gb stick of mem... prob not anytime soon for ddr 2, and definitely not for ddr 1.
Unless its a workstation laptop, anything more than 1-2gb is not a very wise way to spend $$$
