Okay, I need some advice. I currently have a 10/100 network switch (24ports). I want to replace the cabling becaused it's all mix match, some work some don't, etc. I was going to replace it with Cat6.

Why Cat6? I plan on replacing the 10/100 switch with a 10/100/1000 one in the near future and want to be ready.

So do you see any problems why Cat6 would not work in my existing environment?

I have a 4/8pair RJ45 Crimper. Will this work with Cat6? Will I need different RJ45 ends?

Thanks all!

CAT 6 will work fine in your existing environment. Can't answer the second part of your question.

You should go with Cat5e if you want to crimp the cables yourself. Cat6 is different and the cables will not be good if you make them yourself. Cat5e will work fine in your environment anyway and it's less expensive.

Yes, both current and new. We run gig over copper here on Cat5e with no problems.
