if i get a patch panel for cat6 is it the same patch panelt as cat5 or cat5e?
i have a 48port RJ-45 patch panel and was wondering if cat6 would work as it should on it or if i need a cat6 patch panel....thanks

I'm just guessing here but I think Cat5 is only 10Mb/s while Cat5e is 10, 10/100 and 10/1000 possible while cat6 is definitely 10/1000 (gigabit) speeds.

So it depends on how fast your 48port RJ-45 patch panel is...

I think it will be fine dude. If the patch panel is rated for cat5e you'll get a gigabit through it no problem.
