Hi,

I recently renovated my basement only to find out the CAT6 cable installed by the contractor is shielded (STP).

I am not an expert in IT network and would like to find out what is my option. Can I use unshielded keystone to terminate the cable? I know it is not ideal for connection but would it creates any safety hazard?

Thanks in advance

No safety hazards and most likely you won't see any difference in performance at all. Even cat5e is good enough to run a GigE Ethernet, so with any flavor of cat6 you are good enough to run GigE and most likely you are not going to be running 10GbE if you are asking this question in 1st place.
