Cat5e cable question

I'm planning on running cable across my apartment. Is there any issue with speed/reliability to worry about with a 100' cable? I'm guessing not, but I'm no expert on networking, either...

Are there any inexpensive kits with loose cable and crimper tools that are available? The distance I need is about 60', so the 50' is too short and the 100' is really longer than I need.

Also... is it worth spending double the money to get a brand like Belkin, or is all Cat5 cable essentially the same?

I've never had problems with 100 or 150 foot cables of plain jane cat5.

*most* Cat5 is essentially all the same. I have run across some real trash in the past, but most works fine. You might want to consider using Froogle to find a cheap spool of bulk cable, some rj45 connectors, and a crimper. I bought mine from www.pc-pitstop.com but I'm not sure how their prices compare today. It only takes a minute or less to crimp each end and it's nice to be able to make custom cable lenghts.

crimping solid cable works, but is not to specifications. bad crimps can be the biggest nitemare to figure out.
I would suggest getting a length of solid cat5E, route it so that it is not bent too tightly or getting smashed, and put surface mount keystone jacks on the ends. Then use two $1 premade patch cords to complete the run.
