If you run copper between the buildings, beware of ground potential issues, that might end up frying either end of the connection....fiber is stupid here because of the temporary usage, wireless would be best if you don't have any security limitations to the usage.

I used to run cable for the Office of Information Technology at The Ohio State University and we tried to do a basement to fourth floor corner office run. It was over 400 feet and was a no go. We had to run the line up to the fourth floor and put a hub/repeater in. This obviously solved the problem of us getting internet to the fourth floor from the IDF in the basement. Why the basement you ask? That's where the fiber line for the building came in. Was not a fun run as we had to fish the cable up four floors in a 1900's era building. Boy am I glad I don't have that job anymore.

Well here it is. over a week later no one has noticed a difference. This was all I was hoping for. Being a temp install I dont have to worry about it long term. I am not going to test it and get true results. Just real world usage. If you guys could have seen the look on the faces of the other "Network guys", when I said "do it". I could here a couple of them after the meeting takling about me. Quoting specs and standards. HA!!
Thanks for the progress report. I would have been somewhat surprised if you had encountered serious difficulties.
