Ok STUPID question.

What is the color sequence for the male plug.

It has been 4 years so if someone can link the info that would be helpful

With the end pointing away from you, clip down (away from you), starting from the left side:

Orange-white
Orange
Green-white
Blue
Blue-white
Green
Brown-white
Brown

This is the order for 568B. For 568A, swap the orange and green pair, maintaining polarity.

A standard Ethernet cross-over cable would be 568A on one end, and 568B on ther other (swap the orange and green pair on one end only).

T1 Crossover would swap the Orange and Blue pair at one end (1&2 - 4&5)
DDS Crossover would swap the Orange and Brown (1&2, 7&8). This is also used for ATM crossover.

For 10Base2 or 10BASE5, you need a crossover coax ;->

Make sure your connectors are rated for the desired Category rating you're trying to achieve (Cat 5 for 100Base)

Good Luck

Going left to right looking at the pins of connector facing and the end point away from you ,the pin out is:
1)white-orange 2)orange 3)white-green 4) blue 5)white-blue 6) green 7)white-brown 8)brown

Edit: ScottMac you just beat me to it
