Are you using the cat 5 cable that came with your router or cable modem? I see there are cat 6 cables that carry data faster, would that pick up my modem a bit more in data transfer? I have cable at 4mpb now

Typical DSL or Cable Connections are 1-6Mb/sec.

Old Networks and Hardware from 10 years ago did 10MB/sec. I.e. Hardware wise there is really nothing to play around with.

Otherwise try this: Optimizing & Measuring the "Speed" of Internet Connection.

Thank you for the replies. I am putting a router in today and had to get another cable and saw the cat 6 and figured I would check.
