Honestly I never cared for tattoos, never liked them or even considered them. However, after the passing of my cat I have been considering it. I want to get a exact replica of my cat tattooed on my chest. I know someone that can do a photo realistic tattoo of my cat. The only thing is, I am a grown ass man getting a tattoo of my cat on my chest. I know people are going to make fun of me and criticize me. However, this is the only thing in my life that has meant anything to me, this is the only thing I have ever considered tattooing on my body. Do you think I should go through with it, or am I asking for a lifetime of ridicule.

It's only worth it if you post the completed tattoo here for us to judge. :p

But seriously don't do it or your future dog will hate you.

For some more serious advice... Get another kitty. There's lots of cats out there that need a home. It won't be the same as your old cat, but it'll still be pretty cool, and you'll be helping an animal that needs help.

On the tattoo... I'm skeptical of realistic tattoos. I've seen some amazing work, but I've also seen some real abortions. What will happen if you get someone else's cat tattooed on your chest? What if it's some kind of mutant zombie cat? Either get an abstract design that /can't/ be screwed up, or commission someone to make a painting on canvas. At least that can be put in the closet if it sucks...

It seems to be the more "realistic" you try to make a tattoo the higher the chance it will be fucked up. You are going to end up with some grotesque drawing of a half cat half devil dog on your skin.

Have fun.

I will never have another pet.

I know you feel that way now, but never say never!

It is always devastating to lose a loved member of the family like that. That is one of the only drawbacks of having pets. We love them dearly, but we out live them.

Never say never, as you never know when another pet will enter your life.

We have been dogless for about 4 years now which is the longest I can remember not having a dog. Our twin sister cats grew old and died within a year of each other, losing all of our pets around the same year.

Now, we are back up to 4 cats, all of them rescues. One of them was abandoned on our back porch and was only a few days old when we found it. We eye dropper fed it, then bottle, then real food. After a large vet bill, we got her healthy and now she's happy and 4 years old. Our other cats were all rescues too, two of them from elderly owners that needed to go into assisted living and could no longer keep their cats, but were quite concerned that the cats would get a nice place to live.

No pet has ever "replaced" any other pet. They all have unique personalities, and have all made wonderful additions to the family. That's why I say that after you have mourned for awhile, eventually the time will come where you could use the love of another pet, and that pet will certainly be able to use the love from you.

So please.... Never say never!

I think it's a great idea. It is the ultimate show of love for your precious feline.
Please spare no expense, and make it a full size covering your entire chest. Anything less would be an insult to your beloved pet.

And post pics so we can all express our feelings of how a great man you are for doing so.

If you're asking us whether we think a cat tattoo is a good idea, probably best you just shelf that plan.

I think you'd regret it eventually.

Do something else in memory of your cat. Even a vague message with meaning would be better than a picture of your cat.

If you're going to do it, do it small, like maybe a few inches. Don't want to overdo it. Personally in memory I would make a small tomb stone in my yard or something and bury the cat/ashes there, not on your body.

Tat4Tit would be a great name for a parlor. Also, OP, where is the final art?
