Cat owners: how do you mitigate cat puke?

My cat is a huge puker, she'll puke up the whole house AT LEAST once a week. And by the whole house, I really mean the whole house. Instead of doing it in one spot she'll just walk around and spread it all over during a period of about 15 minutes. Worse is it's usually in the morning when I get up super tired, no glasses on, and can't see a damn thing.

Is there some kind of supplement or something I can put in her food so she pukes less?

Yep, it was the rich food for out cat. Had to switch to stuff which was more 'filler stuff' with less protein. Anyways, when I heard my cat starting to puke, I'd grab it and throw out of the window/door or put her in the bathtub - whichever was closer.

Honestly, that's the dog's job to clean up the cat puke.

Make sure you keep food out all the time, most of the times they puke from overeating which happens when they don't have any food and you feed them.

Also try some wet food every now and again, also mabe add some of that hairball gel stuff that is supposed to help with hairballs.

We have three cats and they maybe throw up once per month for all three. And yeah, always in the morning when I'm too tired and can't see shit. Get a foot full of warm puked up cat food.

Get rid of the carpet.

All hardwood, except for where my computer is (the chair would ruin the floor). Of course, she always has to do it on that tiny section of carpet, or right on the chair LOL.

I sometimes catch her in the process and try to move her but it's usually too late then. Even on the hardwood it sucks, it eats right through the varnish and leaves marks if I don't clean it right away.

I get "special" protein food right from the vet, but I will ask them about it and see if they have another food I could try. Also every now and then I notice the bowl is completly empty so think she tends to not eat for a while. I'll see it full for long then suddenly it's all gone. Think when I see it 1/2 I'll put more food anyway if I have not for that day.

We had a bulemic cat. Fucker would eat dry food then walk down the hallway and puke it back up. didn't matter what kind, brand, etc.

Canned food he tolerated just fine.

We had him put down yesterday. He was almost 14. :(
(I've been blubbering like a big girl...)

Sorry to hear, that must really be hard to handle. My cat is always with me, it would just not be the same without her around.

I have a 16 year old cat who's on her way out and puking non-stop. We close doors and make it so the only rooms she has access to are the basement (where the food is) and areas with hardwood floors.

It's inevitable that she's going to puke so we just make sure that when she does it's easy to clean up.

My cat eats like a horse yet hasn't ever puked, altho she's only 4.5 months old. ;)
Awesome spaz move at 2:48.:D

It was similar for me and my cats. One starts horking up something, and it gets plopped outside. As soon as it finished throwing up, it'd immediately run toward the grass, presumably for another hefty puke.
No idea why.

One cat was kind enough to give a 10-second-warning. He'd let out a distinctive set of yowls as if to announce the impending event. So you had to quick get up and stash him outside.
(Bathtub wasn't an option, both cats would simply freak out if brought near it. I'm sure that would then result in a cat spasming both from fear and from vomitous convulsions, culminating in what would look like a furry, erratic lawn sprinkler, spewing barf in all directions.)

The first time anything like that would happen to me, there wouldn't be a cat in the house anymore.

Thanks guys. He was my friend. I miss the puking hairbag.

Grumpy, stand-offish, solitary...except when he wanted to be affectionate, then he purred so hard he drooled...

my daughter took this pic with her cell:

come to think of it, our cat hasnt puked. Not sure why, our cat is also a bit of a clean freak it seems. Always cleaning himself, us if we are nearby and the dog.
