Cat neutering question

For the cat ppl here. I brought this cat home the other day from the pound. The vet there was really incompetent. The cat was kinda sick but he assured me that he wouldn't get my other cat sick. He did. They are both okay now, but they also said that the cat was spayed/neutered, and I am not so sure. He is a male and I think I see his little testicles just hanging there like they were never snipped. How do they do this on cats? Do they usually have balls after such an operation or did these vets goof this up too? If you don't like cats or wanna crack a joke, at least try to be funny pls. I don't wanna call the animal hospital and complain and be wrong. You should've heard me when my original cat got sick, I told that vet off.

If a cat is sick, (unless it is a physical debilitation) why would you not think the other cat would get it?

#2

His testicles should be missing if he were neutered.

I think they snip internally similar to when a human male gets a vasectomy. I could be wrong, though, both of my long term cats have been females. My only experience with males is feeding semi-adopted strays short term.

I have 2 female cats.

My sister has a male cat, my brother-in-law has a male dog.

Both are missing the family jewels.

don't they carry a do-it-yourself kit at Home Depot, complete with loping shears and a propane torch?

When we neuter cats, first we knock 'em out.

Then we pluck the fur from their balls.

Then we slice them with a razor.

Then we cut the 'nads out.

Then we cauterize 'em

There should be nothing in the sack... they should feel empty, 'cause if he's been neutered, there is nothing in there.

There, now no one will want to flirt with me!

Your vet can tell you if the cat has been neutered, outward appearances might be similar but the contents are missing if he's been snipped.

So I gotta feel them and see if there is something inside? The look pretty full.
LOB, I wanted that cat and thought that whatever he had wasn't contagious. It turned out to be an upper respitatory infection and they had him on an iv for a few days. My older cat is okay, he was sneezing and coughing for a while, but I guess he was strong enough to fight it off. I don't feel like taking time off work to bring the new cat back to the vet, so he can keep his stones for now, if he doed indeed still have 'em. Thanks for all the advice, BTW.

Shouldnt be anything left of either inside or out if done properly.

If not done, get it done.

A male neutered cat is the greatest but uncut he will mark up your house soooo bad. Get it done before he starts to spray or it may be too late.

<<he was sneezing and coughing for a while>>

did you try rubbing some Vic's Vaporub under his chin and on his chest?

a good steam bath might also help

I just had my male kitten neutered about two or three weeks ago. He was shaved clean and there was a mark where the incision was made...however after the hair has grown back, there really arent any visual differences that I can notice between the before and after.

Thanks a lot for the tip, I will go home now and roll my cats nuts around with my fingertips! Thats pretty sloppy of the ASPCA, right? How could they goof that up? Probably a paperwork issue. His balls didn't get lost in the shuffle!
