There has been this cat that keeps coming to my house lately. It looks well fed and is friendly, so I am not sure if it is stray. I let it into my house today for a while, but I don't want to take somebody's cat. There is no collar or name tag anywhere, but I would feel bad letting such a friendly thing just roam the streets if it has no home. What should I do?

If it looks well fed it must have an owner, why not let him come to your house and leave whenever it wants?

Put a collar on it with a phone number and "please call" on it. If the cat has owners they'll call you to ask about the collar and you can avoid taking somebody's pet. :)

Yea do this. As a owner with 2 cats i would hate if someone just decited to keep them one day because they go up to someone's house. If its well fed and doesnt look like its starving leave it alone

make sure it's a break-away collar designed for cats.

Yep. That's probably the reason the cat doesn't already have a collar on, so you don't want the owners pissed off at you for potentially strangling their cat (as unlikely as that is.)

OP, whatever makes you think that anyone ever owns, or gets to keep, a cat???

Cats come and go as they please, stay when they want to, and will never be kept! I swear, if I ran out of cat food and didn't have the bony hands that my cat loves to rub against, he'd be out of here in a heartbeat!! ;)

Remember.......dogs have owners, cats have staff!

You may want to check if giving your staff to a cat is legal in your parts.
