Heard a cat meowing really strangely when I got home today. I was wondering where it was coming from as we don't own a cat. Suddenly I realized it was coming from under the front porch. Sure enough there is an Orange Tabby cat there. It just sits there and occasionally meows. I went next door and found the owner of the cat, 2 doors down. They came buy and looked at the cat and recognized it as theirs and called it's name a few times. I think they called animal rescue then went home. Well it's been several hours and nothing has happened and the neighbours have not come buy, they don't seem all that concerned about it in the first place. We tried lightly poking the cat with a stick and it still just sits there. Then we tried moving it a little more forcefully and it still doesn't respond much. Seems to me that it must have chosen that location as a comfortable place to die. It's obviously very ill at the least as it just plants its face down on the ground a lot of the time. We have to find some way of moving it out of there though. If it dies under there it will VERY quickly start to stink in the hot summer day. We are going to try to somewhat carefully pull it out with a rake and shovel without further injuring it. Sad to see. :(

Edit: OK we got it out, might have a few bruises on him now but he's still alive. We put him in a cardboard box and gave him to the neighbours.

Put some food and water for it under the porch. If it dies, it'll be easy to get out.

Very sad, glad you got it out and returned it to the owners. I can't as an animal owner imagine just leaving my pet like that, I'd be sitting by it if I couldn't move it.
