Inhumane or not?

Most cats are ok with it if done while kittens, but is it really right to do?

Are you ok with taking from them something that is a part of what they are?

Would you like getting lopped off at your last digit?

Is it ok to do it if it means giving a cat a great home?

This is a very debatable topic, I think. If you don't declaw, you have to cat-proof your life a lot of times. If you do declaw, you're robbing them of their nature. Which is better, and what do you do? Discuss.

I think cats should be given a chance and should be trained to not claw at furniture/people, but sometimes it's very hard. Some cats by nature just love to claw at everything. In that case I think it's ok to do it as long as it's done humanely (ex: by a professional that cares for animals, and not some guy down the street that can do it for 1/2 price).

The way I see it is, if your cat is constantly clawing things to the point of getting you mad, or possibly harm someone and get you in trouble then it's best to get it done and avoid that grief, then to end up getting rid of the cat, or worse, having it put down (ex: if it claws a visitor and they sue or something)

That was pretty much how my cat was, she would actually jump up our leg. It may of been cute and funny when she was under 5 pounds, but if she still had her claws and did that now... OUCH! lol. She used to also climb door frames, curtains you name it... she was actually a danger to herself lol. Crazy cat. She has no claws at all, but she's 100% fine. She actually can grab stuff with one paw sometimes, it's kinda funny to see her do it.
