Cat 5e Twisted or Solid Core?

L8CS

Senior member
I know that they make both solid and twisted core versions of the Cat 5e. The solid core appears to be more common and priced lower then the twisted core, probably because of the manufacturing cost. Is there an advantage between versions?

All CAT5e are Twisted, you mean solid or stranded.

Solid core is less flexible then stranded thus:

Stranded is used for short patches that are plugged, and unplugged many times.

Cables that sit undisturbed are solid.

Thanks for correcting me. I've always used stranded in my home network but I need to buy some bulk Cat 5e and noticed the difference in price but the mhz ratings were the same.
