I believe these are the drivers referred to by Hexus, but it's questionable whether they do anything for any of the older cards.

ATI produce tool to increase Doom3 scores 'up to 35%' with AA enabled

Posted on Thursday, 13 October, 2005 by Ryszard

ATI Technologies have this morning made a tool available to HEXUS which supposedly improves scores in Doom3 when antialiasing is enabled. Improvements 'of up to 35%' are explicitly mentioned by sources within ATI. The tool seemingly changes the way the graphics card maps its own memory to better deal with handling AA sample data in Doom3's case.

The fix will shortly be rolled into CATALYST 5.11 according to ATI sources and a beta drop of that driver will be made available for testing in due course, before the final WHQL driver from Terry Makedon's CATALYST team is made available for public download in November.

HEXUS are in the process of testing the fix and we'll bring you some scores using the executable tool very shortly. It's unclear if the fix affects other games or whether it solely affects Doom3 via ATI's application detection scheme and their ability to reprogram the GPU's memory controller per application using CATALYST A.I.

More on the tool and the fix as we get it.

The change to the memory mapping was only for the R5xx series cards. Also, the changes won't be seen till 5.12 (or 13).

well there is now no CCC, just a series of tabs in the display manager.
my 3d mark scores dropped a few points and I can now play BF2 6AA, 16AF, highest settings under the ATI tabs in the display manager for textures and minimaps, VSYNC, all in game settings at max except for textures at medium, at 60fps most of the time and it drops to the low fifties in high action scenes. seems to me that my frame rates werent quite so stable with the 5.10.

Also I cant seem to enable Adaptive AA, which I diddnt use in BF2 by the way.

I am confident that there will be no 5.13 drivers. :D
Are the 5.13 drivers a sign of the Apcolypse?

Flashburn, the next driver will be 6.1 (2006/01)

Blah blah blah, you knew what I meant.

And the memory mapping changes will help Quake 4 as well as Doom 3 (among others).
