Oh! NVIDIA has small file size for Download, good thing for dial-up users

NV fans are funny. There is NO point of you clicking this thread, since you dont have a ATi card.

Of course you could turn your argument around, with Farcry. But I guess you dont want to do that, do you? Besides, the beta drivers were available on ATi's site that boosted Doom3 a lot.

"septembar"? Oh my... your posts makes more sense now. Not that sharpest tool in the shed are you...

i downloaded the 26 meg...i think that ati should put keep putting out two versions because the new CCC is too bloated for me.

Can I buy you some furniture for the bridge you live under? 😛

I've beaten Doom3 (and am halfway through it a second time) and I use a Radeon 9800 Pro. Rollo hasn't beaten it yet and he has a 6800nu and a 6800GT. Ohmigosh! The universe is about to explode!!!

Ha Ha, the nividia sales force is everywhere. Anyways all I see here are threads about 6800 problems. Please make a list.
😉

I really wish you wouldn't take my post out of context. Don't make it seem like I'm trying to say something I am not. So take the post at face value. No hidden meanings. 🙂

I can edit it out if you wish.

The asumption that there are a bunch of games that no longer work was not hidden at all. Just a normal nivdia fans logic. Anyways I was serious also, if anyone is into making lists - finding out which 6800's paired with which hardware - are causing all these distress postings and fixes would be a real public service. We all know that the greatest majority are finding solutions, but I am sure they would appreciate a facilitated process.

🙂

Sacrifice is still borked. I figure maybe, just maybe they may have Sac fixed by now as it has been two years now to work out their problems in that game.

Sacrifice won't be fixed unless the developer does it. ATI is not working on a fix AFAIK.

I used to download Omega drivers, the latest ones that are based on the cat 4.8 are only 16Mb!! And they even include ATI Tool, Radlinker and Multires!! With the CP of course, but now they haven't updated their drivers for a while and there's no CCC version, so I installed the official 4.9, and patched them for my softmod (techpowerup.com)

having problems with 4.9 and control center just did a fresh install of windows and installed 4.9 and i when i reboot it gives me a cli.exe had an application error and i am unable to go to the control center when i double click it or try to go to it in the properties anyone else getting this error?

I put it on a friend's 9800 Pro, along with the CCC, and couldn't find a way to set or override refresh rates in "displays" menu (or anywhere else). I don't have the stomach for 60 Hz and, luckily, uninstalling the CCC left the familiar control panel in place, with its ability to set application rates to desktop setting.
It does run UT 2004 quite a bit smoother, and felt like a new card in that game to me.

If you right click on the picture of a monitor, it gives refresh overide. Took me a while to find it also.

ronnn is right, the new CCC has refresh rate overide, you right click on the monitor pic,I did say if you can`t find things use the help contents it has everything listed, guess some people can`t find that as well 😉.

Is the new CCC version of the Cat 4.9, still only for R300/420-based cards? Or will these new ones function on my 9200? I'm curious about the UT2K4 improvments that people have mentioned, since I bought my card specifically to play UT2K4 (on a budget, mind you), and it does - just barely. Hopefully whatever they've done to these drivers that affects this game, will give me some additional "FPS headroom".

Only for 9500 ,9600,9700,9800,X300,X600,X800 models ,the 9200 will be included down the road in a later release of CCC,so you`ve just have to wait for now.

I uninstalled the CCC version and reinstalled the old-skool ghetto version.

Why?

Was getting really bizarre performance in 3DMk2001. The benchmark would seem to "pause" intermittently at various places in the benchmark. Before I started the benchmark, the CLI.EXE process had used only 3 seconds of CPU time.

After running the benchmark once, I noticed CLI.EXE had now used 12 seconds of CPU time!

My advice: avoid the CCC, for now.

The CCC has nothing to do with any performance increases. You can still download just the driver, which is all you need.

Thanks ronn and Mem for explaining the refresh menu. I was in a hurry getting his machine going again and didn't take time to dig around for an answer, nor did I read this thread thoroughly when I got home. I'll do some more reading on setting up profiles for games today and maybe try that out. My friend has almost every fps game known to man on his machine for his grandkids, so I just set his to 2X AA and 8X AF "performance", and it looks and runs well in all of them at 1024X768 to 1280X1024.

Sheesh. I've got other things to do?

It's not like he's the only one who's suggested there may be problems with the 4.9s?

No, he's definately not the only NV user not using Catalyst drivers pointing out issues with them...correct😉

They work fine, just like every other recent CAT driver I've used. I don't know why I bother updating anymore...

And yes, CCC is completely useless and crashes too.
