Cat 12.4 install on fresh Win7 64-bit install, no video over HDMI?

Cat 12.4 seems to have a bug. I just did a fresh install on my E-350 rig, and am connected via a high-speed HDMI cable to a 1920x1200 26" LCD.

Was going fine, until I installed 12.4 and rebooted. Saw BIOS screen, Windows startup animation, then it played the background sound, and ... nothing. Black screen.

Thankfully, I also have a DVI cable connected to my monitor, so I connected both the HDMI AND the DVI cable, and booted.

I finally got a display, and then I shut it down and rebooted with the DVI disconnected, and voila, now I have a picture.

I noticed that once I logged in the first time, there was some console window that popped up with "KDB(aml)" and something about ATI and a progress counter.

I have no idea WTF that was, but I'm guessing it had something to do with the ATI/AMD drivers.
