It is quite awesome. heh, at first I was like "Crap, I forgot I didn't like Castlevania games!", then I moved on to, "Hey, this is pretty cool with the experience and equipment and all..." and I am now at "My first born will be named Konami."

Very very cool game. Worth the purchase of my GBA alone almost :D

How's the lighting situation for you guys? I can hardly play GT Advance without any sort of fluorescent or sun light. And I know Castlevania is a much darker game.

I'm a bit over 5 hours into it and the last boss I fought was a two headed dragon. Its weird... I only played 5 hours but it seems like I have been playing it FOREVER.

(edit: dcdomain - as long as I have a light source (just a simple ceiling light is fine) I can see it great. Otherwise it is sorta tough... I'm going to buy a light next time I go to EB so I can play in the dark though)

is the GBA worth it if i get a good deal on it? Cause really, i don't play video games that much, only on the computer... i'm just wondering i'll leave it in my car for when i'm sitting around waiting or doing other things.

Yeah, I'm not a big gamer myself, only into car games, and so far the Game Boy has been worth the $80 I spent for it.

I got it. It's really hard compared to SOTN. Also. It's dark, not that that's bad, but the GBA isn't handling it well. :)

I'm waiting for a good lighting solution before I continue playing.. the worm light is just gay :)

The pelican light is the best one for it, trust me I tried them all.

Nintendo blew it big time with no backlighting option, plain and simple.. As evidenced by the massive amount of complaints they have recieved the Fox, MSNBC, and CNN stories on the subject, the numerous web-sites devoted to it, the cartoon that was made about it, and the NPD group released survey among GBA owners.

They also should have made the speaker a bit better, and allowed an AC plug in port on it.

I myself own one, but can't wait till some company comes along and makes a decent handheld machine.

Till then, as I said get the Pelican Light Advance. :) (We modded ours with a white LED which makes it realllyyyy good)

Wyst: how did the modding go? Im thinking about doing that myself. Notice any major changes in battery drain?

It's the best b/c it throws the most light onto the screen, as well as being adjustable, has a built in dimmer switch plus off switch, plus acts as a protective cover when closed.

It is also the light that will drain your batteries the most.

As for the mod, it went great! Much more light now, and you can hardly even tell it was modded. Pick up the LED at Radio Shack it's 4.99

Battery drain is there,as it's about twice as bright as the original pelican. You will get about 7 hours with it on non stop. Which is what we would have had, had they backlit the damn thing. :|

I don't own a GBA, but I was thinking about LEDs... My M505 uses the same type of screen as the GBA as far as I can tell. My M505 uses LEDs (I think) on the side to light it up. Really improves when it is dim or such in a room. Youw on't see a damn difference in sunlight though. You won't see jack in sunlight if it was backlit anways. I'm talking about directly hardwiring them to the side of the GBA Screen

Aggg, Rossman, just two days late. I bought one for my friend, GBA and F-Zero in Chinatown for $138 bucks. DOH!!! Could've saved $10 bucks after tax and everything.

My friend bought the same exact Pelican light. I didn't really like it though, way too much glare. I tried adjusting every which way and the glare was still there. I do like the design and how it covers up the screen though. If there was a way to get rid of the glare I'd be all over it.

While at EB, I saw some light that was sort of a reflected light. The light pointed away from the screen and was reflected off a piece of plastic or something down onto the screen. Wonder how good that peripheral was...

i also have the pelican light, and i gotta say it is the best one. i really like how it keeps the screen from scratching when its closed. also, the dimmer switch is cool and it has a on off switch. i only wished the light was white and not yellow. i think i might try that mod with the LED switch.
