Cassette Audio to PC

I have a few cassette tapes that I need to get the audio from to get it in a pc audio format (wav or mp3). How do I go about making this happen? What software and hardware do I need?
 
Hook your cassette to 'line in' on your sound card then use program such as CoolEdit or Goldwave to record/modify/cleanup your sounds in your favorite format.
 
i dont know the exact name... but just atke a look at the back of your computer.. youll figure it out when you get to radioshack.

cost me 5 bux from there... 2 RCA head on one end and the y-jack (or whatevre its called) on the other...
 
If you're going to hook a home cassette deck to your sound card it's usually a Y-adaptor with pair of RCA plugs to single stereo 1/8" mini plug.
 
You can also record and process audio files with the free EAC software, which is mentioned in the FAQ's page. It also has several other features that will help your cassettes recordings.
 
If it is a cassette deck, then an RCA to 3.5mm plug is needed. It would need two RCA connectors to attach to the back of the deck, and then a 3.5mm plug to go to the Line In of your soundcard.

If it is just a portable cassette player, a simple cable with male 3.5mm connectors (stereo) on each end will do fine.
