I can make a pretty mean sweet potato casserole myself. The trick is to leave the skin on, halve the sugar, and sub carrot for some of the mass.

Not really.

Sometimes I like the thick soups (i.e. chowder) but by and large, I don't care for soup.

Only kind I have ever had is tuna noodle and sweet potato. Both are good in their own way, but a lasagna is so close to a casserole, IMO, they are basically the same food.
