I currently have a Canon A75 digital camera. I'm planning on upgrading later this year to a dSLR, but I still want to have a compact camera on-hand. The A75 is small but is kind of bulky and I've been looking at pocket-sized digital cameras. I really like this one from Casio:

Price is nice, great features; I'm just worried about the picture quality. The A75 takes amazing pictures and I don't want to lose that. How will this camera compare? It's twice the megapixels, but that doesn't mean anything unless the photos are good.

I just don't want to downgrade from the A75's quality.

last year when i wanted to buy a compact camera, I did a bunch of research and most of my findings pointed to Canon being the best pick in the ultracompact category.
For that price I'd recommend one of the SD series cameras from Canon

if you want to expand on your choices, check my sig. Its the dpreview camera buying guide. Just put in specific options you want and it'll give you all the cameras on the market that match.

Darn, I was hoping the Casio would be a good one...all of their other ones I've looked at have had pretty poor image quality compared to my Canon. Wanted a nice slim black one to go with my MacBook ;)

that buying guide would be awesome if lens sharpness was one of the available criteria.

How's the macro on the SD450? I can get pretty good macros with my A75 (as in computer parts).

I have the sd400, and it has a digital macro setting that seems ok. I've used it a few times, but unfortunately, never had another camera to compare it to. I wanna say its above average though.

Digital as in digital vs. optical? Hmm...

How much should I be asking for my old camera? Includes:

-Canon A75 (fair condition)
-1gb Ultra II CF card
-8 AA 2500mAH rechargable batteries
-Battery charger (up to 4 AAs max)
-Tamrac case

-1gb Ultra II CF card ~$50
-8 AA 2500mAH rechargable batteries + Battery charger (up to 4 AAs max) ~$50
-Tamrac case ~$10?

Good jorb! Er, wait...:) Hey, if you want something else to do, you can take a look at the car/AC adapters on ebay and tell me which one to get. There's a few different flavors and they're all around ten bucks. Use the keyword "NB-4L", which is the battery's name.

So far every compact camera I've looked at are crap. All of Casio's line seem to be horrible. Canon's line seems to be the best but the picture quality of the SD450 & SD600 aren't nearly as good as my A75. The SD700 has other problems line lens whine. Can someone else suggest a good pocket-sized camera?
