What is the chance of a person becoming a gambler if you just go to the casino every weekend or maybe twice a month just to watch people gamble?

If you watch long enough and never play, eventually you will feel like joining in.

I have no idea how gambling addiction works.

depends entirely on the person, if you have an addictive personality the risk would be substantially higher.

Neither do I but I'll tell you one thing for sure that the various state lotto's and scratch-offs are creating more addicts every day. Yea, they have a "play responsibly" at every site that sells 'em but I see people rolling up in cars that are smoking, bald tires, ect. and buying bunches of scratch-offs, one would think that person should get their vehicle in decent condition instead of gambling, but nope. Worst part of it is lotto is the worst odds of winning of any form of gambling, way worse odds vs horse/dog track or a casino. At least at the track you can handicap a race and try to bet wisely or view all the days races on the program and pick favorable one's to bet on, the track pays out 78% of all monies wagered in winnings, the rest is divided between the track and the kennel owners, state lotto games are 50/50, only half the money collected eventually goes to winners.
