Cashier's Check vs. MO vs. Personal Check which gives the most protection?

Ok, so I want to purchase something from here on the F/S forum and am wondering which would be the safest to send the seller. He has little heat, I have alot but he demands to be paid first.

I'd send a personal check but I don't have a my checkbook on me at the moment (and I don't want to wait until Friday until I go back home to get it). So is a Cashier's check just as safe as a Personal Check? I mean I just want to make sure that incase he'd decide that he'd like to troll me, if I could report it to the bank as check fraud as well. I know what a cashier's check is of course, just don't understand what kind of protection there is. With a money order I don't see any protection at all myself so I really think the cashier's check would be the only alternative if I don't want to wait. Thanks in advance.

You're 69-0 on Heat and he demands to be paid first? I would pass, personally.
There's not that much protection with any of those options if you get trolled. All he would have to do is string you along until the check clears and then you have little recourse. At least with a personal check and a bank-issued money order you might be able to put a stop payment on the check before it clears if you get suspicious.

I'd do a personal check or see if your bank has online bill payment and do it that way. Then they can stop the check and investigate the fraud for you if the person doesn't send the item. But I don't know what the USPS Money Order is so maybe that'd be good too.

MAIL FRAUD - 18 U.S.C. 1341, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone to use the United States mails in carrying out a scheme to defraud.

A person can be found guilty of that offense only if all of the following facts are proved: First: That the person knowingly and willfully devised a scheme to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false pretenses, representations or promises; and Second: That the person used the United States Postal Service by mailing, or by causing to be mailed, some matter or thing for the purpose of executing the scheme to defraud.

go for MO

Yet another Heatware snob ;)

Go with MO, it's safer and as said before he has to ship or he is toast.

There's nothing snobbish about it. Heatware is "earned". Plain & simple. If he cannot respect the reputation that you have earned, then move on.

It's beyond fvcking dumb to send money to someone first who doesn't deserve it in the hopes that the USPS (laff) will protect you. JFC....

If his rep & evals don't match your's, then you are right to ask him to ship first. If that's a problem for him, then move on. Trust me, whatever he's selling is not worth it.

Let him troll someone else..unless you like being one of those suckers who got jacked in FS/FT

Yeah, but wtf do you do with those bodies? You can freeze them for a few days & toss them in the wood chipper, but even that gets kinda suspicious after a while....How much "head cheese" can you serve to your friends at parties?

Pelton & Crane autoclave with special modify chamber to resist potassium hydroxide "super lye" under high temperature and pressure. Stuff in McGee and by dinner next evening remains will go down regular sanitary sewer along with localised acidic treatments!
