Cases with righthand side panel

My current build is in an Ultra M923 case, and it works pretty well. The reason I picked it was because it opens to the righthand side, which best fits the arrangement under my computer desk. I'm considering a new build, and wondered if anyone knows of any other mid to large case that opens to the right. Good air and H2O cooling options would of course be important, and USB 3.0 headers, you know, up-to-date stuff for an up-to-date build. thanks, zz03

those cases usually have the board inverted. (the cpu is slotted at the bottom and the video cards are up top.)

i havent seem them anymore, as inverted setups were considered unique and expensive builds.

You may look for a Lian Li V series.. (example)

but they were discontinued.

The silverstone TJ07 series also had a feature where u could invert the board, but required some moding, and was also very expensive.

The silverstone Raven had a 90 degree rotation, also had a window on the right side, is also probably the youngest out of the 3 i listed, but lacks usb3.0.

However again, its discontinued.

But in short, inverted setups arent that great... i have both the Lian Li and Silverstone TJ07.
both dont offer USB3.0 as i said inverted board setups have mostly died out, and never got to the age of USB 3.0.

What i would recommend more is horizontal board layout.. meaning the board lays down flat, and the top has a window like a MM Hori design, or the cheaper solution:

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO

this way u can either mod a window on either side or both side, or the TOP even, and get what your wanting on multi orientations.

Great food for thought aigo and I thank you. And maybe a better thought is to just rework the desk situation to allow for the miriad possiblities in a standard layout case. I like the open case design like the HAF too. I'm going to have a (for me anyway) rare opportunity to build myself a machine somewhere out on the front edge of the curve and really, my desk should not get in the way of that. Thanks again for your advice.

FYi, some of BitFenix cases have both side panels that come off, like the Prodigy, which I am using right now. Most of them are mITX layouts (with USB 3), however, with the horizontal mounting but it does what I need it to do because I don't need a big honker-master machine for everyday uses.....

The RV04 doesnt have the 90 degree orientation of its earlier siblings but it does have 180 degree one like the old BTX form factor. But it retains the right-hand side panel that the RV01 and 02 had.

Nice case Anita just what i was looking for. Some of the custom builders are happy to help me but this is a little closer to what i had in mind for my build from the investment standpoint. Thank you so much.

It's a bit of a rebuild, so using some old parts:
i5-4690k
Gigabyte Z97MX Gaming 5
Coolermaster 212+
650W Seasonic (?) Power supply. Not modular, but not that big of a deal. There's plenty of room to store the extra wires, and the case design allows for easy routing, tie downs.
Asus GTX 460 1GB - To be replaced
512GB 3.5" HDD attached to floor of case.
120GB SSD attached to side panel.

Still plenty of room inside. I have 2 120mm intake fans on top, the PS drawing air from inside the case in the front/bottom, and a 140mm exhaust at the rear, in line with the CPU cooler fan.

sounds like a solid little build wetech. is there room for a closed loop cpu cooler/radiator setup v the cm212? piasa i like that case too, with the power supply at the top. if i were going sli it might cause a problem but i'm about convinced that a single high end vid card with a good air cooler is the way to go for heat and expense issues both. thank you both for the input.

I haven't seen anyone mention the Silverstone FT04 yet. It's a bit pricey, but it has a right handed door, inverted mobo, and comes with 2x 180mm air penetrator's, which you can replace with a 3x120mm rad, a 2x180mm rad, and it supports a 120mm rad on the rear exhaust.

EoW nice suggestion on a bigger case, and even closer to what i was hoping to find. CaseLabs also make fully customizable cases which can support this orientation as well but they are beyond pricey. This is the best option i've seen yet and thank you.

I think the Raven RV04 (also from Silverstone) is right-side openable also, but I think the build quality of the front panel, is sort of flimsy.

EoW have you had your hands on both of those cases? some review i read on the ft thought it was kinda flimsy too. I'm not packing this computer around, but who need cheap plastic?!?

top of the case has mounting holes for 2 x 120mm fans. You can fit a 240mm radiator up there. Would probably prevent the installation of an optical drive, and depending on the depth of the radiator, possibly a 2nd video card. There's alot of pics of peoples builds in this case.

another option i've just come across on this subject is the azza genesis 9000, which features a reversable set up allowing it to be configured in the way i want. anyone with any experience with this case i'd love to hear from.
