CasEdge, bays=crap?

Just bought a barebones system w/Casedge LX734A (CA3013).
Tried installing 2 cdrom drives in 5.25 bays using rails. Am I missing something, or does this rail system suck? Managed to cram in the 2 drives, top and bottom bays, but no way can use the third (middle) bay -not enough room- (plastic cover wont even fit over empty bay). Didn't even seem possible to NOT use rails and just mount with screws...

Any help appreciated. TIA
