This is the only example I can find right now of what I mean.

I'm willing to take the greater convenience in reaching connections over the slight decrease in mounting convenience. Anybody know some inexpensive manufacturers or model numbers off-hand?

Antec Sonata, many other Antec mid-towers as well.

Super LANboy
SLK3700-BQE
Sonata

Not exactly cheap per se, but you can find the Sonata and Super LANboy on sale pretty often at Fry's\CompUSA for ridiculous prices.

I picked up a spare Antec SLB at CompUSA for $40AR. I did receive the rebate... about 3 months after I mailed it, but I did receive it. Awesome deal for a case like that.

Other than rebate deals on Antec cases, don't think you can get cheaper than the case you linked, though I think it's fugly.

Doh. Didn't realize the Sonata and SLB had them. Those two were on my list to go back and look at if I couldn't find a case that had the sideways bracket :(

And that Xaser's more than I wanted to spend, but it's just so pretty

Thanks for the names

Athenatech A600 series.

And some of the Aspire cases have the sidesaddle HD bays. But I'd get the Antec 3000-B - the entire HD cage pops out easily couldn't be easier to mount drives. <$50 shipped - use price search engines (Provantage and Amazon have had the best price recently). In fact all the Antecs I know of have easy HD mounting. But some don't have vibe dampers.
. The Evercase 42x2 series is also one of the best for quiet and cooling per silentpcreview.com and their HD bays pop right out for easy mounting. You can get vibe dampers for 42x2 HD cages (and extra cages) direct from Evercase if they don't come with.
