Case with PSU mount at bottom, PSU with single, large fan

I just got a BFG ES-800 PSU that has a single 138mm fan for cooling. On a normal case with PSU mount at the top, the fan would blow air vertically and out the back of the PSU I presume. This would work with the naturally rising hot air and exhaust it out the back of the unit.

I have an Antec P180 case that mounts the PSU to the bottom.

I was curious if I should mount the PSU with the fan facing the bottom of the P180 or mount it upside down (when compared to traditional cases). There would be about a 1 inch gap below the bottom of the PSU if mounted with the fan facing down, so the fan would not be flush against the bottom of the case, etc.

Thanks!

The P180 was designed for PSUs with an exhaust fan at the back but by the looks of it, there's a bit more room above the PSU than below. Or you could mod your case :)

I have my Corsair 520HX with its fan pointing down. No problems whatsoever. That extra bit of space is actually enough for cooling.

Consulted with my friend Google and after a bit of research I chose to do this same thing. There's about ~1.5 inches of space between the bottom of the PSU and the floor of the case so I think that's fine. The air coming out the back of the PSU is cooler than any other fan exhaust in my case =) Thanks for the reply.
