Case with 12 x 3.5 drive bays

I've been looking at the LIAN LI PC-V2000Bplus II case. Although I don't think I'm willing to spend so much on a case. Can anyone suggest a case with a high number of drive bays in the sub $150 price range?

I have a lot of drives, and from expierence, due to thermal issues, you can't put the drives right above or below each other, you must space them out every other one. Even with a ton of case fans and decent air flow

might be a bit more expensive then 150 with shipping.

look for stacker T01 or Stacker RC810

uhhh those arent 12 bays tho... i dont know if a 12 bay even exists unless you mean something like a ll-343

Yup, get the stacker STC-T01 or similar and add two of the Kublai Kages when they become available (supposed to be any time now) - see my review of the Silverstone Kublai KL01 here: http://www.techIMO.com/articles/ just to see how the HDD cage works. That's the Kublai Kage. The Kage alone should be $20. and you can add up to four CP05 SATA hot plug/swap connectors at $5.00 each if needed. A lot better than any other cage I know of unless you're willing to pay two or three times the price. One of the nice things about the original Stacker is that you can put two reasonably priced PSUs in there instead of one expensive monster - good for powring lots of drives.

Each cage of four HDDs will have its own fan, so unlikely to get too hot.

well I had 3 drives in one of those 3.5 inch bay things, with an 80mm fan inserted, and for some reason the middle drive would over heat and give issues. the stc-t01 looks great, wish it had a fan up front, and move air flow

Each HDD cage has a 120mm fan on it - could be changed to get whatever air flow you want. The hub takes up too much of the blade area on 80mm fans. Put a small-hub 120mm fan that can move some air on the cages (like the Cooler Master Y720 CCD-25K1-GP and no HDD will get overheated.

both decent cases in that price range. I am in awe of some of the unique fan setups I am seeing, like this one XCLIO A380BK. Massive intake, and side fans. I wonder in practice if this is even affective. Zepper, thanks for the great review of that case.

I've often thought of grabbing one of those Xclio Windtunnel cases or Tagan Obelisk (same case) you just have to make sure your other cooling is set up to work with a side flow instead of a thru flow. They do cool the system with very little noise. But I've got a KL03 coming, so I have to shut down my wandering eye. But none of these can do 12 HDDs very easily.

The Thermaltake Armor can also do 15 HDDs with say 3 Kublai Kages and the one at the top rear - throw away the iCage that's taking up space in the front bays as it only holds 3 HDDs in three 5" bays - no care taken in the design at all. I think you can still find the armor without the garish side window/fan door. Put your own 250mm fan kit in the solid door if you want.

Yup, I've thought of that myself - one of the regulars told me what size that side vent was, but I've forgotten. I believe it was fine with the trim ring you get with most of those 250mm kits. Might not need any other fans in a Stacker set up that way - lots of air seeking any available way to escape - there is a 120mm fan mount in behind there...

Maybe a Lian Li PC-A16 with apair of 5 in 3 bays and some 1 in 1 bays if youneed an optical or if no optical needed three 4 in 3 bays. It's at the top of your budget without the hard drive bays but, it's a great case, used one a little while back for a storage server for a local business with tripple 4 in 3 bays and 750GB drives in raid and it works great and with slipstream 800rpms on all three front bays and in the rear with a low power C2D, underclocked, undervolted and passive the thing is silent, literally, they made me hook up the power LED just so they could check if it was on while under their desk without having to bend down.
