ive always thought that a large difference between case and cpu temp indicated a bad CPU cooler, is this true?

ive got a XP 1900+ with a volcano 6cu (note: not the cu+ version, the lower dba/cfm cu version) and current temps are:

case: 24C
CPU: 47C

just asking because ive got a AX-7, Vantec Stealth 80mm (21dba/27cfm), and some ASIII coming in a day or two and im thinking it should make a large difference, since the case temps are so low by comparison...

Yeah that is a pretty large difference. My Alpha PAL8045 with a 50cfm Sunon keeps my 1.3 Athlon at 40, while my case temp stays around 25. I'm not sure if the AX-7 will actually help all that much, however, becase of the low-airflow fan you will be using. Also, beware that some people have reported getting bad batches of AS3. So if your temps skyrocket, theres a good chance your AS3 is bad. But if all goes well, you'll probably see a fair difference in CPU temps.

Generally as3 will only drop cpu temps a few degrees. I wouldn't expect a huge dip in temps.
