Hi, a week ago I bought a ABIT KR7A-RAID motherboard and a Athlon XP 1600+ cpu, and a TAISOL coperbased HSF

the install was no problem, but the case noise was so much noiser than my old mobo/cpu (PIII 700mhz)
and the taisol HSF was supposed to be quiet !! (30 decibel)

so I put a big row of books around the case to try to lower the noise, and it did do that (a little, still loud)
but the case and cpu temperature went up from mobo: 24c -> 30c , cpu: 42->50

is to high temperatures for the mobo/cpu ?

any other ways to lower the noise? (without having to by new case, hsf)

Wow.... you actually fit that into the motherboard?? Good going man. Here's a link to the review of that HSF just click Here!. Well dont believe DELTA when it says Low NOISE!! They are a noise maker no matter how fast or slow.. and be careful that DELTA fans really burn out Motherboard Power headers... they ruined 2 of my motherboards.

The HSF is really good. Well your motherboard Temperature is actually still pretty moderate, but the CPU looks dangerous.. if you can take out the books from the side case to let air flow go out easier through side of the case (well if you have holes in the side of case) If you can install BIG 92MM case fans instead of the 80MM case fans, they make almost NO noise and have the same performance, do that. if your case cannot support bigger case fans, get a quieter CPU fan, take out the Antec and get a quieter fan instead, But 50c is a bit high and can cause some issues later on.

If all else fails.. buy some foam at a local hardware store and sound proof the damn thing from the inside, WHILE letting air circulate the case :)
