Hey everybody,

I am starting my search for what I am going to buy for my T-bird 1ghz machine. I shall start with the case and PS. Anyone have any idea's on what kind of case I should get?? Also, where can I look in te internet for them. I've looking a colorcases.com and they have some pretty fun ones, which most are AMD approved. Can I get a full or pretty big midtower with 330 watt PS for under $80?

Thanks for all your help...

I figured you were from another country by the way your post was worded but came to find out you're from Pennsylvania. If English is not your first language, I apologize and understand.

Even so, I recommend checking out this place for your case search. A 330w power supply is unnecessary, 300w should suit you fine and you can probably find a VERY basic case with a 300w power supply for under $80. My personal recommendation is to spend a decent amount on your case, especially if you want a 1ghz processor. Those processors need good airflow and cheaper cases will not allow you to have this. I might recommend the Fong Kai 320 (which is on the site I've linked to) as it is very large and has plenty of airflow. Not to mention it's extremely well built and comes with an AMD certified power supply. This company will also install front and rear exhaust and intake fans for you.

I second the Antec nomination... it'll be a little more than the $80 you asked for. Most of us got it from Onvia.com (free shipping is the sh!t!!!) In addition, I suggest you do it soon, read what Ben from Bensbargains posted...

As many of you know, they are now being managed by FirstSource. It looks like FS has taken over Onvia's cart system, so now the prices are much higher and you must pay CA sales tax (if you're in CA). Bye bye Onvia.

I prefer the InWin Q500N to the Antec becuase it has 11 drive bays, and the Antec is one ugly biatch ;) but seriously the Antec is a good case.
My Q500N was about $95US at a local store, I didn't look around for a good price or anything I just bought it the first place I found it.

Don't get a cheap case...you'll regret it later.

While the Antec is a nice case, it's hardly "easy on the eyes". (Translated: It's fuggin ugly! ;))

I picked up a FK-320 from Directron. Very, very nice case. Get your own fans and save a few bucks, though.

I have to disagree with those that think the Antec SX830 is ugly. I will admit that when I saw the first picture of it I did not like it. However it grew on me and the reviews were so good I decided to buy one. Once I got it out of the box I was very pleased trust me they look better in real life than the pictures I have seen and has for their quality and performance there simply is no question they are worth more than you pay.

"Hansan Explorer III - Part 2
Page 3 - My conclusions

This case is super easy to mount your hardware in, the steel threaded mobo mounts, the removable drive bays, the extra fan mounts, the ledges under the drives, the lack of a large center divider, the deburred and rolled edges, all these things and more make it a simple matter to mount your hardware in this case. It's fit and finish are top of the line. The extra fan mounts, open design, and all the cooling holes make it a good choice for the average user or the power user. And the pull off cover, well, if there were no such thing as sex, beer and pizza I'd say that this cover is the best thing ever. This is the best case I've ever owned so far, and I've personally had at least 8 or 10 cases over the years. This case can also stand with the best of the OEM cases I've worked with in the past couple of years also I whole heartedly recommend this case to anyone with only a couple of exceptions. Those being the serious overclocker who needs a larger case with room for all the cooling fans they run and the LAN partier, for that I'd want a case with a screw on cover and a handle on the top. For anyone else, this is a great case.

My rating

4 and one half stars!!!

Highly Recommended!"
