Actually it *is* required by law for system identification. If you bring it in for repairs for any reason they can fine you for not having proper identification on the front panel.

God is at this very moment warming up his lightning bolt finger in preparation for zapping you in the arse if you don't get that case sticker on post haste.

Well I wouldn't go so far as to say that God himself will cease your existance, but the mainboard manufacturer can get you fined up to $3000 for not properly "flagging" your comp. Strange laws indeed.

Well, you do know putting on the case sticker adds like another 100MHz to your CPU speed.

That's 100MHz at the flywheel......only like 50-60MHz at the wheels.

This is partially true, but if you receive more than one case sticker (i.e. one with your motherboard, one with your video card, one with your processor, etc.), you will notice that same speed increase on every level. I have 4 stacked up all on there, and i have noticed 100+ points increase in benchmarking scores.

Who's gonna know if you don't? First off, how often are you going to take the system you built in for repairs? Secondly, if you do have to for some reason and they actually question you about it, tell them it is an oem chip, those don't always come with stickers. So, no, you don't have to put the thing on there if yu don't want to. Oh, and also, I really doubt there is a law against it anyhow, or how else would company's get away with putting their own sticker on the front instead of the one that came with the processor? Basically, it is your machine, do with it as you please.

You better put it on there. If I was you, I'd rather spend the $$$ you'd pay in fines on extra computer parts.

That's not a case sticker. You need to affix that sticker to some part of your body, but keep it out of sight. It's just for us geeks to know.
