I have some concerns about the quality of case reviews at Anandtech and other tech review sites.
It appears these case reviews for thermal performance need better lab conditions.
Often these reviews start off by reminding us about how important our cases and PSU choice are but when you try to look at the reviews they don't put true lab conditions in them selfs (although specifically the PSU reviews on here are actually my most preferred on the net, especially in terms of voltage going in at different standards like 230v really does impress me, so ignore that bit)
Back to my main complaint I would like to see *all* case reviews performed in a state of the art professional hosting environment.
I have been to a lot of data centers and I always enjoy their tours, they always talk about how the temperature is always with in 1 degree and the humidity is at practically a precise percent, and that leaves me wondering how well the thermal tests on cases reviews must be, I never seen in any of them mention the humidity and degrees Celsius of the lab at the time.
If the humidity is changing for every case review it is still going to make a huge difference in the thermal performance tests.
I work as a IT admin and I have noticed that high humidity days do appear to be the preferred days hard drives fail in desktop PCs.
Also what about the temperature of what the case is resting on, my floor is cement with thin wood boards on top but its probably a lot cooler drawing air up from that compared to floor boards with air underneath or carpet.
I have been looking at a lot of case reviews on the net trying to choose a good case for as much as 1 year now and I have noticed how all over place the area of thermal performance is on cases. For the most part its driving me crazy.
