Hey gang,

I'm getting to a point where I don't want to research MB's or RAM just to get that extra 2ns performance that I'll never notice. Same with the case - I've got this huge Antec full size tower with a bunch of fans and the clear side window. Basically, I'm looking for a good maybe $40-$50 case. Don't need the side window, don't need extra fans. I don't overclock. Only real nice thing would be usb and firewire up front and the ability to hold 4 drives total (2 HDD and 2 CD/DVD-roms, etc).

Any cases that stick out in your mind?

Thanks!
Aaron

Check out the Athenatech (747 series for easy assembly, 503 series for extremely clean appearance - can't recommend the 445 series because, for some unfathomable reason, they went with L&C PSUs there while the other two series have Sparkle economy line PSUs) cases on newegg. Reviews of some of them are on tomshardware.com et al. The company site is: www.athenatech.us .

Hey pspada,
. Why do you push TCM so hard? Limited selection, high prices, high shipping charges... I know they give good service, but does that overcome their other deficiencies?
Example:
TCM - Raidmax Scorpio 868 - $67.50 + SH to NY - Gd, $18; 3D, $38; 2D, $55.
Newegg - $65. shipped 3D!
ExcaliberPC - $53. + 3D SH $15. Plus you get free Raidmax HD cooler and disct. on Raidmax cordless kbd/mse combo.
Plus both Newegg and ExcaliberPC have very high ResellerRatings over many more reviews. Not a hard choice for me.

I never pay for shipping 'cause I'm in San Diego - so I did not even consider that aspect - newegg would cost me more. However, he's looking for a plain yet effective case, and the 208 line (beige and black) is a very nice case - with a decent 350w Raidmax power supply, to boot.

Besides, I've had issues with newegg, but never had a problem with TCM - and I've been going there over 15 years now.

I know this is OT, but I can honestly say I've never heard anyone else w/ a serious complaint regarding newegg -- what did they do?

As for the OP, there are literally tons of cases that fit that description (except front firewire maybe)--- you'd probably have a field day finding them on ebay. Take a look at the Enlight cases.

Note finger hold placement on Enlight 7250 cases, Means you still have to take the front off before you can remove the side cover. Stupid except perhaps in a corporate setting.
