I'm doing a major over haul case modding =) Gonna do a window, water cooling lights and painting...
But I'm not sure how to go about painting it.

What kind of paint to use on the steel and what kind of paint to use on the plastic?
Do I need to sand it down first?
Or any other hitns/tips would be nice as well.

Thanks

Tuan

Check HERE for some info on how to paint your case and what to use. Helped me a lot.

I bought some generic flat spray paint from wal-mart, sanded the original paint down a bit, and went at it. You can see my results here. My recommendation: use several thin coats of paint rather than just a few thick layers. And I mean very thin. Like just barely enough to cover the case; you should be able to see the beige for at least 2-3 coats.

3m makes a pad that I used to scuff the surface of my case, then use rubbing alcohol to clean the surface when done. As far as paint, really whatever you want, I would suggest a spray paint made for metal, the spray paints made for cars come in some really cool colors. When done if you want the really shiny look pick up a can of krylon high gloss enamal, I painted my keyboard and then put that stuff over the top, it made it nice and smooth.

i painted my case by sanding it with 400 grit sandpaper first and then wiping it clean with a lint-free cloth and rubbing alcohol. i didn't use a primer coat at all, but went directly to using rustoleum metallic paint. i followed the directions on the can (one light coat and then a wet coat). after i let that dry for a half hour i coated it with rustoleum clear gloss using the same one light/one wet technique. i let that coat dry for about a half hour and then put on a new light/wet coat. that second coat isn't necessary, but i like to have a lot of clear coat on as protection. careful however - too much paint and it starts to chip easily and your case won't fit together as well.
