Hello,

I am looking to find an inexpensive case(w/o PSU) for my new mobo. I was going to use my old Gateway(from 1998), but there was an issue with the ports not fitting the the back plate of the case. Can anyone give me any suggestions?

Thanks!

That probably was an ATX 1.0 case, and/or tailor made for a particular mainboard.

In the true spirit of ATX (2.0), newer cases have a rectangular opening where the ports go, letting the face plate that comes with the board cover the gaps.

Can you remove the rear face plate on the Raidmax? For example, my integrated sound ports line up horizontal, instead of vertical.

Oh, for sure. they are just like the PCI/AGP slots, only held in with a few tabs and are easily removed. Then you just snap in the one that comes with your mobo.

I've found that cost is not a factor - I end up cutting myself on any case I work in, be it a cheapie or expensive, name brand like Dell, or no name white box. The good news is that once built, I rarely have to go back in.

In any event, these cases are pretty good, with folded over ends and such. No many sharp edges, either. One of the better yet cost effective cases I've found in my many years of building machines.
