Case Mods : cutting open case causes Electrical Interference?

I've seen some pretty cool case mods but have always wondered what the effects of case mods brings to the system. Say you cut half of one side of the case away for a design, and put plexiglass in it's place like everyone is doing. Couldn't your computer be suspect to more electrical interference? Steel cases and such are made to reduce and contain the interference. Does anyone ever have any problems with their systems or other devices around the house, besides the fact that you are probably getting irradiated with more electrical signals?
