case modding is so played out

anyone else completely tired of the whole case modding thing? i got a window back when they first started up, CCFL, etc, but now i wish i hadn't thrown away the original side panel to my antec case. i've turned off the CCFL and use a trash can to block the window (and the superbright blue LEDs on my CPU fan, an artic fan 2l or something, very nice and quiet, which i'm reluctant to get rid of due to the derth of high quality quiet 80x35 fans). about the only 'mods' i've done to my case in the last two years is add sound insulation.

how do you all feel?

Don't really care either way. My case has a window, but I haven't bothered to do anything else...although at the same time I don't think it's particularly "lame" either.

I agree. No more led's and lights and crap. The only modding I'm doing is putting systems in non-standard cases to conserve space
eg. burnout linksys 24port switch is a astaro firewall

see, now that is at least interesting. that isn't like putting autobot plastic crap all over your case to make it look like a badly done civic.

I think tasteful modding is acceptable, but then that is all in the eye of the beholder, I hate some of the molded cases, that look like the mother ship has landed, they glow in about every color of the rainbow and such...a little bit much for me.

i never liked flashy lights...i removed the stock ones that came on the front of my case. I did however install a white on blue lcd display on the front, which looks sexy, AND is functional. but it isn't over the top, which a lot of "case mods" these days tend to be...

I buy the closest thing to a completely featureless black monolith to put my computer in.

I have a ChenMing full tower case right now. They supply a good number of Antec's high-end cases, but you buy from ChenMing you can get it without all that nonsense that Antec likes.

Windowless, black, no flashies. Perfect.

I agree with LeetViet. I'm modding my case to add better cooling. The fans I want (DB / CFM) are LED fans, so I figured I might as well add windows to my case. And most people haven't ever seen a modded server case, so I maintain some originality atleast.
Tas.

Case-modding was, for the most part, lame from the beginning. People started out by adding fans for the sake of having more fans, they never increased performance. Then it turned into an all out rice-fest.

I have an old inwin case that's I put stickers on whenever I happen to get a sticker. That's the extent of my modding.

I honestly think that modding is really only cool or fun when you do it yourself. When you order stuff off the internet or buy stuff from a store I think that kind of kills it. It does to me at least. I have done quite a few mods, but I have never purchased any premade mods, and I highly doubt I ever will.

Mods can be good, if done right. The average case mod, a few LED fans here, a few CC's there, some UV reactive crap, etc, is usually just an attempt to get the riciest, flashiest case out there.

There are a lot of case modders out there who make art, and those are GOOD mods.

I have like 15,000 AMD Athlon64 Mobile stickers that I ordered by accident. Pay shipping and I'll send you a few thousand for you to wallpaper that case with 😛

I've never had the desire to mod my case for anything other than better airflow. Lights, windows, color themes... none of it appeals to me.
