Case Mod, need intake in the front.

Ok, so I purchased a COOLMAX CS-460-Black (yeah, I know should have gotten something different). And it's fine except for the fact that it lacks any form of air flow in the front of the case.

It's got a mount for a 120mm intake fan, but that's useless without any air flow. Should I drill holes, or is there a better solution? And if I'm drilling holes are there any tricks?

Also, what materials do you guys usually use to serve as filters to catch dust in your cases?

Personally, I'd take a 4 1/2" hole saw to the front to completely open it up for the 120mm fan. I'd then put a filter of your choice (I don't use any as I clean out my system once a month anyway) on there.

ditto!

And I would cutout the stamped grills on that case as well.
Get yourself one of these for your rear fan. You'll get MUCH better airflow.

EDIT: Those grills look perfect. Do you place them on the front (suck) or back (blow) of the fan?

Any filters you guys like?

is there anything special I need to know about the 4.5 inch hole saw? is there a specific brand I should get? I've got a power drill so I'm guessing that I could find a 4.5 inch hole saw attachment for it.

I just place grills like that on the outside of the case. (rear in my case)
You can put one on the front as well, or a filter if you like.
Some folks put them on both sides of fans so they don't chop up their fingers.

A little tip for cutting holes.

I take a piece of scrap wood and cut a hole in it to use as a guide.
Then I line the hole in the wood over the hole to be cut and clamp it down with c-clamps.
(you don't want the drill walking while you are making cuts in your case)

I don't use filters so I can't help you there.....
